The Foundation
The Footsteps Foundation was established to provide financial assistance for those families who might otherwise not be able to afford the Footsteps physiotherapy programmes.
Estimates show that 1 in every 400 children is born in the UK with cerebral palsy
Government estimates indicate that 55% of disabled children grow up in, or at the margins of poverty. The annual costs of bringing up a disabled child are three times greater than those for a child who is not disabled. The care required to look after disabled children, is restricting for parents, limiting the opportunities open for the child. Families with disabled children are therefore, one of the most impoverished groups in society.

Through the Foundation, it is possible to extend much needed access to the Footsteps Centre across the United Kingdom. There are thousands of children with neurological disorders across the UK. For many of these children, the NHS is unable to provide the intensity of physiotherapy that is required. The Footsteps Foundation provides patients and their families with the financial assistance to be able to take part in the centre’s innovative physiotherapy programme, which would otherwise have been out of reach.
The Footsteps Foundation helps disabled children and young people to realise their full physical, cognitive and developmental potential and therefore attain the best quality of life and independence.Through the foundation, families have access to grants to cover between 25% and 75% of the total cost of treatment. In addition, the Foundation provides funds for the Equipment Bank, to help cover up to 50% of the cost of homecare plan, where recommended by the therapists. The Equipment Bank also assists families with the provision of specialist footwear for patients.
Every child should have the opportunity to realise their full potential without financial obstacles. Fund a footstep and help begin a journey.
