Physiotherapy Programme
Footsteps specialises in the intensive rehabilitation of children and young adults (ages 3-25) with cerebral palsy, genetic disorders, epilepsy, other neurological and neuro-motor disorders and undiagnosed conditions.
Specialised physiotherapists, provide individual kinetic physiotherapy based on neuro-improving techniques, using Neuro-developmental Treatment (NDT Bobath), Proprioceptive Neuro-muscular Facilitation (PNF) and conventional rehabilitation.
The Footsteps Physiotherapists use a unique and specialised piece of equipment, called The Spider, which is central to the programme, accompanied by intensive treatment.
Whatever age and stage of developmental stage, patients love to come to Footsteps.
The programme is tailored to exact individual requirements of each patient focusing intensively on physical rehabilitation, but also where needed on physiological requirements such as helping them build their confidence. The dual focus of the programme is designed to impact both speech and cognitive capability.
Therapy is completely child and individual orientated. A younger child for example may enjoy learning exercises through play with hoops and balls and may need more confidence building, whilst a young adult may want to naturally push themselves to their maximum capabilities with each exercise.
The time and intensity of exercises are carefully tailored to each patient according to his/her specific abilities and needs.
